I’ve read science fiction off and on through out a long life. This series was a superb example of the genre. It joined modern day technology and extrapolated future seamlessly I thought. Character development good enough to carry the load. The two heroic naval heroes took a bit of a credibility leap but I managed just fine. I’m not sure if there is an extension of the theme by this author beyond the trilogy but will likely find out in time.
What more could you ask for? Characters you love .. including the dolphins .. intriguing story line, plenty of excitement, some romance, some humor and each book has one or more cliff hangers. I had a hard time putting these down. I'm now reading the next one .. Ripple. This author is very detailed and I, for one, really like that. Only one tiny suggestion to the author .. spend a little more time developing your characters. Give them more of a 'past'. Read some Stephen King. He's a master at character development. You, though, are a master story teller. I will read all you can write.
I bought the 3 book set to amazon's recommendation for my kindle. I really thought it would be worth the $7.90 , however it's been more and more disappointing along the way.The imagination for the whole story is great (5 *) but its been losing stars along the way. Book one ends with 3 ***, book 2 ends with 2** 3rd book 1*.You just get lost with so many ridiculous scenes, action, words, people. Something interesting grabs your attention and the NEXT 10 paragraphs are just inconclusive - (What? like nothing important, it becomes so boring, to many words). I had to jump from one paragraph to the next, read maybe 5 to 8 word in each to notice nothing important or interesting is happening.Then there are "action" "scenes" that even in a movie you would fall asleep, it's so exaggerated it becomes more boring. (Come on!!! not even Rocky, Captain America, SpiderMan or Iron Man come close. No, not even James Bond). It's impossible to get through those ridiculous scenes, really. And of course 100% PREDICTABLE in the end of scene.... hero who is almost "dead"... wins.+Spoiler alert + example - ONE WHOLE CHAPTER book 3 "On a plane a gorilla, the heroine, a technician, 4 macho heroes and a STORM and the "outcome" emergency parachute jump all (no runway) "sadly" pilot dies.I am through book 3 had a very hard time to finish it, without any expectations for a great end. (sorry books 4 & 5 out of the question).Sad really because the idea and imagination WAS good, however the development is 80% disappointing. In my opinion the 3 book series would be much better if it were 40% shorter. Needs a lot of editing.
Having never read this author before I purchased this set as a "pig in a poke." I was one of the best purchases I've made recently because I loved the series. Subsequently I purchased the follow-up novel and loved it as well. I'm now awaiting the publication of the fifth novel in this series. Maybe we'll luck out and the entire story will be made into a movie :-)
Not sure how it was compared to some of the big hitters out there. No character development. After 3 books, finally learned hair and eye color of “starsâ€. Spent too much time developing “mysteries “. After a while, there were so many out there that, I just stopped caring. I didn’t suffer while reading them, but I won’t finish the story line by buying any more. Just lost interest.
I loved these books. The premise is really intriguing and I couldn't put them down - a bit of science and a bit of sci-fi. It is a great mix. Just purchased the 4th (and at the moment, the last) one in the series. Hope there are more to come!
I totally enjoyed this 3-Book Set. It was well written and the story development continued to keep my interest throughout. Love all the characters. Looking forward to the next book in the series !!!
I love this series. It keeps me up all night or (all day), depends on when I start reading. I enjoy the intertwining of the characters and the way their stories float alone and somehow manage to come together at the end, (OR IS IT THE END)I have finished Mosaic and can't wait for the next book.I do have issues with some of the characters but I don't want to give away anything else in case readers haven't gotten through all the books. OH, Michael, I'm patiently waiting for the next one.
