I can't express how great every aspect of this book is, especially the illustrations.Great for all ages, even little ones that can't read yet.
Kate van Grouw has hit the ball out of the park again. Her "Unfeathered Bird" was wonderful, marrying the anatomical science of ornithology with the current phylogeny. Prior to that, her BIRDS was a masterpiece, sifting through human civilization for the most outstanding examples of avian art ( Under Katrina Cook). In Unnatural Selection, she puts evolution in fast forward,illustrating descent with modification as applied by humans rather than mother nature. Stephen Jay Gould would have loved these books.
Gorgeous, informative book. Clearly exhaustively researched and presented in an engaging text, but the star of the show for me is the illustrations. This book is true science art. I planned to buy this for my father as a gift, but it turns out that I'm buying 2, so I don't have to part with my copy. Just wonderful.
This is a stunning book both for its illustrations and its ability to bring the complexities of heritable traits and breeding to a level most will find easy to grasp. I'm enjoying the book both for research, and the fascination of the topic. Not to mention the beautiful illustrations.

An excellent presentation of genetics. It relates the topic not only to domestic animals, but ties it back to wild animals & the history of the topic. An ideal introduction to a complex topic.
I love goats and animal husbandry and this book has both in abundance!
