I got called to be the Primary Music Leader in our ward about 4 months ago and I had no experience. Right after I received the call I went crazy looking for resources to try to make my calling easier, and this was a great find! It has helps and ideas for every song in the songbook. The helps and ideas contain pictures that you can scan and enlarge to use for singing time. A lot of the songs have stories from LDS history that you can use to supplement your teaching of the song. I highly recommend this book. It's nice to have a hard copy of something that you can go to whenever you need help instead of searching online for stuff!
In addition to the information about the song and tips about how to teach the words and music - I love the pictures, simple black and white drawings, easy to copy (permission is granted in the book). It is often difficult to find free pictures to use to illustrate a song for junior primary. There are also great general ideas about music time in the front of the book.If I wanted to be picky I could say it would be nicer if the page numbers in the Companion matched the page numbers in the Children's Songbook, but surely I can do a little bit of the work.
This is truly a wonderful book to help with presenting and teaching new songs to out Primary children. It has lots of good ideas and helps with teaching and motivating the children to sing new and old songs. I also helps with helping and teaching them to know the spiritual lessons in these songs. I remember learning most of the songs when I was young. As an adult I can truly appreciate these songs and recognize how they have helped my testimony grow. Lyn B

I love that this book has information and ideas for EVERY song in the Children's Hymnbook! Even those tiny little songs that you can't think of how to present them in a fun way! So many good ideas!
Don’t know what I would do without this handy teaching tool! Has been a great support to me in my new calling as Children’s music chorister.
Its a great book and lovely tool. In my situation, my primary president doesn't want me to do lessons, just singing so I haven't been able to use it to its full potential. But I'm not sorry I have it! I would recommend to others.
This is a great book full of ideas for help wiht singing time for Primary. The one I was sent had a different, older cover than the one pictured here, however.
