I was given this book, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Once I got it, I discovered it is also a "Kindle Unlimited" book, I could have sampled it before I got it. I'm starting out with butternut squash soup and meatballs. Both are easy to make. I cook for one, so the extras go into the freezer for another meal. While not every recipe has a photo, most of them do, and they are gorgeous.The variety of recipes is outstanding. There aren't a thousand recipes, but in the back of the book there are menu plans for 1000 days (which matches the title of the book. Cruising through the cookbook makes me hungry. Many of the recipes are gluten free (I'm cutting carbs to loose weight) which helps the way I'm living now. For example, no bread crumbs in the Marinara Beef Meatballs.These recipes are not the same recipes borrowed from other recipe books and pinterest pages. They are different and original. I'm looking forward to cooking them. I've printed a couple of them to take to the grocery store. I'll update my review with the (sure to be delicious) results.Helpful hint for people with the Kindle version on a computer - pull up the recipe, hit "PrtSc" (print screen) which takes a snapshot of your screen, paste it into your paint program. Crop it. Print it. Now it is ready to go to the grocery store or pasted on the refrigerator (which is where I put recipes while I'm cooking.

Of all the cookbooks I rushed out to get when I first got my IP, this is the best. Katie uses easy to find ingredients and easy to follow recipes. A lot of the books I have feature recipes that are too adventurous for these Senior Citizens, with a bunch of ingredients I’d have to buy especially for the meal and then never use again. Boo. Hiss.I can’t wait to work my way through more of these recipies! Thank you, Katie, for sending me this e-book!

I was prepared to give this book 2 or 3 stars because I thought it had been written by an amateur. After finding out that the author is a professional recipe writer and photographer I do stand by my 1 star review.1) The photos are all in black and white and of poor quality which makes the food quite unattractive. There is a mention at the end of the book that the PDF colors can be obtained for free online. That is generally not what I would want from a paper version of a cookbook. It is different, if, for example, the photos are originally taken as black-and-white photos or one is just shown drawings. These photos are just unattractive and unclear.2) In addition the photos do not always show the recipe as it is published in the book. For example on the black bean and chili steamed tilapia recipe on page 122 does not mention using aluminum foil while the photo for the recipe on page 123 displays the fish inside and aluminum foil pocket.3) The page setup in terms of font is shrunk to fit one page no matter how long the recipes. You may need to put your glasses on and off several times trying to make a recipe.4) There are typos.5) Some inconsistencies in description are again highly unprofessional so for example sometimes the altar mentions using high pressure was sometimes the author refers to cooking on manual without telling us if this is under pressure and what level of pressure. Sometimes the olive oil recommended is extra-virgin and sometimes in it is not without any apparent reason (I am aware that there are circumstances where one would prefer to use one or the other)The recipes worry me, here are a few of the reasons:6) The author recommends cooking canned asparagus for 10 minutes under high pressure in her recipe for creamy corn and asparagus chicken soup. I do not exactly understand why one would need to cook canned asparagus which is already cooked. Cooking them for 10 minutes under high pressure will turn it into a rather unpalatable and soggy mess.There is a consistent overuse of olive oil and coconut milk, including in the same recipe (steamed banana and coconut tuna with fruit punch)There is an appalling reliance on the use of liquid smokeI am happy if this book has helped some people cook. As an experienced cook this book gives me indigestion as well as sore eyes.

I got this ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. I like the variety of recipes presented, with many Asian dishes included. The metric measurements threw me off at first, but she does provide a ounce equivalent. My ebook has color photos and seems to be well laid-out, though the order of the chapters is a little funny, with dessert presented before the meats. That's my preference in food, anyway, so no matter! Thanks, Katie!

I really like the variety in this cookbook. The recipes are grouped by type which is very helpful. They look great for every day cooking using what you would normally have on hand--which is a huge plus. The author gives cooking tips with each recipe. Recipes are easy to follow.The layout of the book is good but could be improved. While the recipes are grouped, the order is odd and seems thrown together--Lamb then Soups then Desserts then Beef. There is also a section for Soups and one for Soups & Stews. Seems like these should be combined.The book also includes meal schedules which layout 1 recipe to make each day. There are many months of schedules available. This is nice touch but in looking through these each month or even week could use more variety. Scanning through each month concentrates on one type of meat instead of incorporating various meats throughout the month schedule. I will still likely use these for ideas but will vary meats from day to day.I received a digital copy free in exchange for my honest review.

The recipes are well written, clear, and easy to follow - and delicious. I'm anxious to try more of them.The wording of the title of the book is misleading. It took me several times reading the title to realize that the author means 1000 "Meal" Plans not actually 1000 "Recipes". I will never use those Plans. The organization of the recipes is odd, but the index makes it easy to find what you are looking for.I will refer back to this book often.
