This book is essential! Very well put together book, all the varying women in our group found atleast one chapter that just spoke to a very special season of life.
This is an essential for living within -- and maintaining healthy relationships. Too many people want revenge and carry painful wounds for years - when it is so unnecessary -- as a psychologist -- I see those people -- they can and do heal, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
As a book-loving Christian for all of my adult life, I have sought wisdom from the Bible as my main resource. I've also looked for wisdom from Christian writers. With a few notable exceptions (Elisabeth Elliot, Joni Tada, Margaret Clarkson, Edith Schaeffer), it seems that the majority of books written for Christian women is like cotton candy -- cute to look at, fun, but no real nourishment. Then I was told about "Peacemaking Women". What a smorgasbord of insight, wisdom and life-changing truths I've encountered in this book! The authors (Tara Barthel and Judy Dabler) have caused me to examine the depth and reality of my Christian faith...am I just playing games or do I really want to promote the Gospel through my changed life? The book is divided into three sections: Conflicts with God, Conflicts with Others and Conflicts Within. The chapter on idolatry (Chap. 2) is worth the price of the book alone. I am challenged through this book to unflinchingly test my attitudes, my words and my actions against the truth of the Word of God. It has been a humbling and yet encouraging process to go through this book and shine the light of truth onto my much-loved besetting sins. Real growth is possible for the serious Christian and this book offers plenty of food for thought. Highly recommended.
What an amazing, HELPFUL book! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and will revisit it again. This would be a great book to study in a small group setting! The authors did a great job!

This is an amazing book for women who struggle in relationships. Tara and Judy do an amazing job of bringing the gospel hope to women who are struggling. I love that they spend so much time reminding us of God's love and grace for us rather than just giving us a checklist of things to do. Tara and Judy truly understand how women struggle with relationships because they themselves have struggled and they are upfront and honest about their own weaknesses. An amazing read!!
Peacemaking Women by Tara Barthel and Judy Dabler is a gem of a book. I've read it three times now, and it's marked up and tabbed so that I can refer to it again and again. It lives up to its subtitle -- Biblical Hope for Resolving Conflict. While teaching us that conflict is an opportunity to grow in Christ, the authors constantly point the reader to the Gospel. The chapter on Idolatry is worth the price of the book!Peacemaking Women is divided into helpful sections (Conflicts with God, Conflicts with Others, Conflict Within) and meaty chapters. The authors include helpful resources and questions for further thought at the end of each chapter. I've used this book in a small group study, and it works well that way. It offers helpful information and encouragement for married women, single women, older women, young women, mature believers, and new believers.
Have read and given this book to so many people. Highly recommend the tapes as well. Did this for a group study and it is the one that keeps coming up in discussion to do again.
