When I first heard about oil pulling, I thought it was just having oil on your fingers and pulling down from your gums to the tip of your teeth. And even then I couldn't fathom the benefits that oil pulling could really bring. Reading Dr. Michelle Coleman's position on oil pulling (gargling with a base and an essential oil), I really became aware of all the health benefits that can come from it! It's a little bit of a time commitment, but something that can be easily adapted into any regime.I was drawn to the dental benefits, but what really spoke to me was the detoxifying aspect. Dr. Coleman gives examples of how oil pulling can cure migraines, diabetes, tension headaches and asthma and can help with more serious conditions like diabetes and Crohn's disease. Oil pulling could completely change someone's life is they really adapt to it.The recommendation is 20 minutes of oil pulling a day. I like that Dr. Coleman gives the option of working up to 20 minutes per session. 5 minutes might be a good place to start and something I can definitely work in to my day so I may not give up on it so easily! I also like that there are different oils to choose from. Dr. Coleman gives so many options for base oils and essential oils to combine to give the user just the right health benefit. So easy and cheap, I'd be crazy not to try.

This was one of the kindle books I picked up in a vow to be healthier now that I am in my 30s. Oil seems like the biggest thing now for health and beauty. The last two weeks I've been using argan oil for my face and it's been amazing so I decided to see what other things I can use oil in.I've heard of oil pulling on TV shows and mentioned in beauty and health blogs but normally just gloss over it. I was browsing through kindle books and this one caught my eye. Dr. Coleman starts off by an introduction regarding health and oral hygiene. I enjoyed the fact that she is in her thirties and was trying to do natural beauty (very reminiscent of my argan oil story) and looking into other applications for natural products to make one healthier.Dr. Coleman started with an introduction to oil pulling. I finally know what it is! She also talked about the base oils used and essential oils you add in. She explained the method in a way where I really feel like I can and should make oil pulling a part of my daily routine. The remainder is the different benefits of oil pulling and how to target certain things. For example oil pulling cannot only improve oral hygiene but allergies. Dr. Coleman explains that oral hygiene ties into other parts of the body and oil pulling helps get rid of all the nasty bacteria in your mouth. The book gives combinations of base oils and essential oils to add together for your oil pulling. I'm gonna definitely give it a swirl. Very educational and helpful.

I was introduced to oil pulling about a year ago and love the benefits. While researching information about detoxification, I came across this book which appeared to address both of my interests. Even though I had a year of experience in oil pulling, I learned so much more from the writings of Dr. Coleman about the whys and hows, plus the wonderful discovery that I had been detoxifying all that time through oil pulling. In addition to the benefits on oral health, Dr. Coleman offers tips on essential oil uses, and detailed explanations of conditions that will benefit from each oil. She walks the reader through the process of learning about, and then choosing, the correct oil. It is obvious that Dr. Coleman is very knowledgeable about the subjects she covers. This book is a valuable resource for anyone wishing to enjoy a healthier, internally stronger body, and, as Dr. Coleman continually points out throughout the book, inexpensively!!

Read it in a day, mainly useful for the suggested oil combinations, i.e. tea tree with a coconut base etc.

My boyfriend has been dying to get me hooked on the oil pulling - he literally has been an avid believer in it since day one. I've heard great things from people but sometimes it's hard to believe all the hippy BS of the folks in Chico. Despite it all, i've heard too many good things not to at least look into the whole oil pulling concept. This book is really great because it gives you a thorough background of the who, what, how, why etc. I love a book that truly dives into answering the basic questions. As someone with lifelong gingivitis that never seems to go away, I really loved reading how oil pulling can benefit my gingivitis and gums. Overall this book is full of an abundance of information, information I didnt even know if I needed or wanted to know, still don't. I am however convinced that oil pulling can change the world and can't wait to give it a try. Great book and very informative.

Very helpful for doing oil pulling the correct way. Also tells what essential oils to use and what can be mixed together.

I had never heard of oil pulling. Simply describing it, it’s just swishing oil in your mouth and spitting it out. Oil pulling is an interesting concept. I guess it’s an ancient remedy dating way back. I believe in old remedies and old wives tales like “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” and “feed a fever, starve a cold” so oil pulling could be a viable thing. Basically, the oil surrounds the bacteria in your mouth and chokes it out. Oral hygiene is very important in a healthy body; bad breath, cavities, and gingivitis are signs of an unhealthy body, so if you get rid of the bacteria in your mouth you are healthier.Swishing oil in your mouth for 20 minutes is something you would have to learn to do and not swallowing the oil seems impossible. The preparations prior to the oil pulling, flossing, using a tongue scraper, eating more probiotics, drinking water, exercise and getting enough rest seems the best ways to obtain good oral hygiene for a healthier body. This book answers all your questions about oil pulling and the multitude of other health benefits it describes. I would try oil pulling just for the fact it said it will whiten your teeth.
